Towards Shamballah: The Diet for Peace

Shamballah means peace on Earth or Heaven on Earth. What does Shamballah look like for you?  We will co-create this together as Gods and Goddesses who know who we are.  Because we know who we are we will love ourselves and through that we will love other beings too.  Our vision for Shamballah includes peace for all sentient beings.  The Galactic Beings have shared their wisdom with us about the optimal diet.  Our Space Brothers and Sisters recommend a diet of foods that are as close to living as possible, plant foods are ideal, and closer to raw and unprocessed is ideal. The higher the vibration of the foods we consume, the higher our own vibration will be.

It is good to be aware that the law of karma is still in effect with what we choose to buy and consume.  When we are talking about meat we are karmically responsible for the negative ripples that come from participating in a sentient beings’ quality of life and also state it was in when it was killed.  These fear hormones are in the meat and when we ingest them it will affect our vibration.  Paying someone else to do this for you does not take the responsibility away.

Adopting a plant-based diet is the single biggest physical action we can take to eliminate many world problems: environmental destruction, chronic diseases, and food insecurity. Let’s talk about how.

The environment

A person who follows a plant-based diet produces 50% less CO2, and uses 1/11th the oil, 1/13th the water, and 1/18th land compared with a meat eater. The Amazon rainforest is often called the “Lungs of the World.”  And yet, 1-2 acres of rainforest are being cleared every second!  Animal agriculture is responsible for up to 91% of the destruction of the Amazon rainforest.

In Plato’s Republic, Socrates is quoted, “If we pursue our habit of eating animals, and if our neighbor follows a similar path, will we not have need to go to war against our neighbor to secure greater pasturage, because ours will not be enough to sustain us, and our neighbor will have a similar need to wage war on us for the same reason?” We can prevent wars and move towards Shamballah by eating a plant-based diet that helps preserve resources for all humans and the other beings we share this planet with.

Food security
About a billion people on our planet are currently suffering from hunger. However, we are currently growing enough food to feed 10 billion people!  In 2013, scientists from the Institute on the Environment and the University of Minnesota published a study examining agricultural resources (including meat, dairy, and egg production) and the dilemma of world hunger. The scientists reached the conclusion that if all food crops were fed directly to humans instead of animals, around 70% more food would be added to the world’s supply, which would be enough to feed 3 billion additional people.

Diet and disease
The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell is the most exhaustive study of nutrition that’s been conducted to date. It was the culmination of a 20-year partnership of Cornell University, Oxford University and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine.
The conclusions are startling when looked at in contrast with modern medicine. Dr. Campbell proves the direct link between diet and heart disease, cancer, and diabetes: the top three chronic diseases in most countries.  Furthermore, he proves that these diseases can be prevented and treated with a whole food plant-based diet: one rich with unprocessed plant foods and no oil: fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds.

This study is far from isolated. Since the 1960’s there has been mounting evidence that a diet high in animal products, and therefore high in saturated fat and cholesterol, is the biggest contributor to most chronic diseases.  The research shows something that the pharmaceutical and animal agriculture industries don’t want you to know!  Heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and even several forms of cancer, can almost always be prevented—and in many cases reversed—by adopting a whole-food, plant-based diet!

Drugs and chemicals

80% of the antibiotics used in the United States are fed to farmed animals, not humans.  They are not fed to animals to treat illness, though in tightly cramped confined quarters, they are often diseased and sick.  The animal agriculture industry feeds large doses of antibiotics to farmed animals to maximize profits.  Animals on antibiotics grow bigger and faster.  Our growing epidemic of antibiotic resistance is largely due to the amount of antibiotics people consume on a daily basis as a result of eating animal products.

Pesticide residues are found in meat and animal byproducts, including, disturbingly, long-banned pesticides like DDT. These pesticides mostly come from the food that animals eat and end up getting stored in their fat, accumulating over time.  The Environmental Working Group estimates that a whopping 167 million pounds of pesticides are used each year just to grow food for animals in the United States.

Our fellow Earthlings

We want to believe that the animals raised for food are treated well.  We imagine them grazing in green pastures, living a natural life on quaint family farms.  But the harsh reality that the animal agriculture industry works very hard to hide from the public is quite different.

Family-run small farms are almost non-existent in first-world countries, having been quietly replaced over the last several decades by corporate conglomerates concerned only with profits.  Green pastures have been replaced with giant, windowless, filthy, industrial sheds filled with animals crammed in tiny cages and crates. Most farmed animals never breathe fresh air or feel sunlight - until they’re loaded onto trucks headed to the slaughterhouse.

Why vegetarian isn’t enough

Many well-meaning people turn to a vegetarian diet with the intention of stopping animals from dying on their behalf. Unfortunately, with modern day practices, dairy and egg industries also include killing. When a mother cow gives birth to a baby, the baby is almost immediately taken away from her. There are videos online showing mother cows crying for days after her baby is stolen from her. The male babies of dairy cows are raised in tiny crates and slaughtered around 4 months old to become veal. For chickens, the males have no value to the egg industry. They are not the same breed of chickens that are used for meat, so they are killed almost immediately after hatching. Standard practice is to kill the male chicks by putting them into a meat grinder.

You have the power

The great news is that more and more people are adopting a plant-based diet. There's been a 600% increase in people identifying as vegans in the U.S in the last three years!  Therefore, the delicious options available to us are dramatically increasing in quality and quantity. Even the largest meat companies are getting on board. Tyson is one of the biggest investors in Beyond Meat, the company that creates the plant-based burger that bleeds and is outselling traditional ground beef in many supermarkets.

The problems of this world can feel overwhelming, and we can often feel powerless to do anything about it.  However, you are more powerful than you know.  Every day you make choices on what to eat. There is great power in choosing to help other sentient beings, make more healthful choices, and choosing a diet that is kind to our planet. This is something you can easily do on a daily basis to feel you are not part of the problem, but part of the solution.

Use Your Triggers as Gateways to Peace!

How can we begin to move freely through the world and not be caught up and affected by other people’s choices, words and actions?  I am a leader in a spiritual community so I work with large groups of people as they are healing and growing into their empowerment so I want to share what I have learned.

I have observed in myself and others in our growth process that as part of the human condition we tend to be affected or allow ourselves to be affected by other people’s actions.  If someone says something or does something that hits on a ‘trigger’ we become upset and may go into story about it with others, making it more of a drama than it needs to be, wasting our energy.  How can we stop this cycle?  We cannot control other people so are we destined to be upset every time someone does something that we don’t like?

The answer is we can stop this cycle and be free! We need to realize that where ever we go, there we are.  Meaning if you have an unresolved issue, pattern or belief about the world this will shape your very world.  You will take your set of issues with you and it is not an outside force that is doing anything to you but it is simply responding to the patterns you have set up in your realm and energy field. We are creator Gods and Goddesses responsible for our own world and our own life. If we have a filter on our perceptions this filter is going to affect our perception of reality.

If something happens and it upsets you and you know yourself and your boundaries the healthy thing to do would be to express it right then and there or if time does not permit you can discuss it the next time you see them.  If you don’t yet know yourself and/or what they did triggers something stems from an unconscious trauma or a past pattern/belief system you have created then this may cause a re-wounding of that earlier occurrence for it to hopefully be healed.

In this case, this reaction could be used to create more of the same cycle in the future OR you could use it as a window and a gateway to knowing yourself.  You can choose to reflect and find the first time this came up for you and realize that it is not the other person but it is actually you and your history that has magnetized this experience.  Once you heal it and clear it you are now FREE.  The next time a similar situation comes up you may still have the neural pathways in your brain directing you to the OLD reaction/response but you also have the greater possibility of now not reacting and realizing you do not have to be upset about this sort of thing anymore.

We have to step away from the victim mentality that others are doing things to us and realize that we usually have a wound or a weakness and the energy has to come into the opening.  Nature abhors a vacuum and if a gateway is open the energy will come in.  Other people are not going to be able to always read your mind and know what phrase or behavior they are doing is going to offend or trigger some random wound or hurt that you may uniquely have.  I have triggered people just purely being of service to them.  They have assigned intent to me that I do not have.  It is fascinating to hear what people perceive and because I have cleaned myself up quite a bit I can listen with curiosity and detachment whereas years ago I would have taken it personally.

This is the goal.  To be balanced within the center of your being where your true self is.  How do we find the center quicker? I have found actively pursuing a path of light that includes serving other people has excelled my progression.  The light comes in when I am serving and shows me very clearly my darkness, my shadows and I even have been embarrassed and humiliated with this showing but it motivated me to heal.  If I was hiding away in my home and playing it safe I would not see my triggers and would have no idea where my weaknesses were.  We are only as strong as our weakest link.  The goal, if you want to be at peace and if you want world peace as well, is to be like the Buddha.  In his final test he had negative forces shooting arrows at him metaphorically and they just could not get in.  There was no wound, no imbalance that any outside force could latch onto to sway him from his center.

In the meantime as you work towards inner balance, you can look at those things that trigger you or offend you that other people say to you as the potential for pure GOLD.  Be grateful that you have found a weakness that you can now heal.  Take the shadow, the prima materia as Alchemists call it and transform it into GOLD.  The GOLD is now strength and power to decide to make a choice.  Before this pattern was unconscious and just ‘part of you’ and ‘how things just are’.  Now, with this knowledge and understanding you can gain wisdom in choosing to react differently next time.  It takes owning your part in the situation.

We can either choose to be a victim or an Empowered God or Goddess.   Let’s clean ourselves up so we can see things as they are in each moment, not colored by past experiences.  Let’s choose freedom, clarity and let’s take responsibility for our wounds.  They are ours to heal not anyone else’s responsibility.  This is all good news because it means we can find peace within!

Healing Trauma Through Magic

Know Thyself also means healing whatever resides in us that keeps us from receiving Light.
~Rabbi Giyam

We don’t know what we don’t know about how trauma affects us, how patterns and habits are created. Scientists are still studying the brain and some are looking closely at the energetics of the brain.

These patterns and habits can control us subconsciously unless we go within and bring them up to the surface to be healed. This is a small glimpse at my personal journey of healing trauma.

Shut Down

When I was about 27 years old I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and Complex PTSD. I wouldn’t leave the house or get out of bed. It took everything within me to get up and take my children to school. If the phone rang, I wouldn’t answer it. If someone knocked at the front door, I would not open it. I felt unworthy, ugly, stupid, and all the other things that were said to me repeatedly when I was a child.

And I had Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from physical and emotional abuse. Friends would try to come by and get me out of the house but I was afraid to go out. I came up with dozens of reasons why I needed to stay home. I didn’t want anyone downloading their problems on me because I would be so tired after they left. I really had no idea how much trauma and dysfunctional family patterns were driving my reactions and emotions. They were also affecting my health.

Addiction to opiates was a real problem. I didn’t realize I was addicted because my doctor kept giving me medications for Fibromyalgia. One night I woke up in withdrawals from the medications. I had to go to the Emergency Room and passed out. I was sent to a rehab facility for 3 days. Something within me shifted from that experience. I was like a different person. I got clean from the medications and made some big changes in my life. Prayer, meditation, and my daily rituals got me through.

I am the first person in my family to get clean and stay clean.

I really feel like a chain breaker.

Beginning The Journey

One day, on a whim, I went through the phone book looking for a Massage Therapist because I was in so much physical pain. I made an appointment with Erin Wallace and had a wonderful healing massage. After the massage she talked to me about DNA Activation. I knew right away that I needed that activation. I scheduled it and was very amazed that I could feel her working in my energy field. As I walked out of her healing center, I noticed that every color was more vivid and something deep was shifted in me.

Over the next few weeks as I laid in bed, I would see angelic ribbons of color - red, green, blue, and pink. I felt the angels working on me and my fears started to dissipate. I didn’t feel alone because of their healing presence. I felt them nudging me if I stayed in bed too long. I can feel their presence all the time now and connecting with them is part of my daily rituals. And I know that they are with me everywhere.

Coming Out Of The Darkness And Into The Light

A therapist once told me that Exposer Therapy would be good for me. This required a lot of courage on my part. Through Exposer Therapy I was able to go places I would not normally go. Bars, amusements parks, concerts and any other large gatherings gave me severe anxiety. Sometimes I would throw up.

When I started doing morning and evening rituals I found I felt better about going to these places. My social life was boosted and I could take my kids to a lot of places. And my relationship with them grew stronger. I had checked out for a long time and it really weighed on my heart. But they have forgiven me for not being a present mom. Both of my children got DNA Activations when they were teenagers. It filled them both with Light and they found purpose and direction. Erin Wallace is dear to us because through her we were were shifted.

Meeting Like Minded People

It was very healing for me to be around other people who thought like me. I attracted a lot of women who were loving and supportive. We talked a lot about knowing ourselves rather than being occupied with what other people in our lives were doing. We went on pilgrimages to the most beautiful nature spots like beaches and labyrinths. I was very grateful to have attracted these women into my life.

After training in a Dianic Women’s Temple and receiving so many healings through the Modern Mystery school, I started facilitating healing circles a few times an month and found my passion in this work so I am dedicated to it at a soul level.

Healing from Trauma is hard work and it takes a lot of courage. This is why I encourage my spiritual sisters through ritual, community, tears, and a lot of hugs.

I am beyond grateful.

The Service in Knowing Thyself

Do you know yourself well?

Why is self-knowledge important?

Who are you?

What is your purpose?

What does it mean to “Know Thyself”?

So many questions! To learn about something, you have to ask questions. To know yourself, you have to ask yourself questions.

So, back to the questions—what if we all came to this Earth with a special mission? Whether you believe it or not, wouldn’t it be nice if that were true? If each of the 70 billion people on this planet had a unique purpose and each of those missions fit together like one beautiful, massive puzzle. Wouldn’t that be a miraculous feat?

Yet, if we look around, there is so much chaos, destruction, prejudice and abuse in this world. That vision of humans comprising a beautiful puzzle might seem out of reach, and if not impossible to attain, very far off. But why? Do you ever stop and ask yourself why the world is the way it is? Even people who love each other harm one another. It is absurd. Why is this? Are some people just bad people? Are we products of an unjust society, or victims of a harsh, unfair world?

It might feel like that sometimes, but that is not the case. Sadly, many of us have forgotten that we are born to live in joy, health, harmony and prosperity. We have forgotten that we are responsible and able to create this for ourselves, no matter our upbringing. But we are afraid we are not good enough or not capable, or blinded by trauma. We have forgotten our strength and power. We have forgotten who we are.

In order to live in joy we must remember! To remember, we must peel back the layers of conditioning, labels, and attachments to who we think we are. We must relax the grips of fear that bind us and heal our trauma. But how?

It always starts with a first step, and then another, and another... But what is the first step? Well, if you’re in the dark, turn on the lights. And if you’ve never been somewhere before, ask someone who has. The Modern Mystery School is an ancient Wisdom Tradition with a 3000+ year old lineage of adepts who have been asking themselves these questions, discovering who they really are, and living out their missions here on Earth. The School is a world wide organization, with people spreading Light and transforming their communities for the better all over the globe.

So what’s the first step according to The Modern Mystery School?
Life Activation.

The second step?
Empower Thyself Initiation.

Each adept in the school has taken these two steps on their path of progression and self-knowledge. These holy processes add more light and positivity to our body, mind and spirit. They empower us to become more aware of the habits and patterns that have been holding us back, and give us more power to heal and let them go. Through this path of awareness, we begin to see fear for what it is—a system of limitation keeping us from our joy, preventing us from creating harmony and prosperity. As we find our joy, we discover more of who we really are and what we are here to accomplish. Metaphorically speaking, we begin to mold and polish the shape of our unique puzzle piece, which will help the wold live in harmony.

So, Who are you? What is your purpose?

Keep asking yourself these questions. The answers may change over time, but with persistence, and guidance from those who have gone before, you will discover who you really are. You will experience joy. You will want to share your joy and live your purpose. To Know Thyself is to do a great service to the world.

Connecting with Elementals

Dragons were always prominent throughout my life.  I was born during the year of the Dragon.  In high school, they were our mascots and we proudly considered ourselves "The Dragons".

When I really look, I see dragons everywhere -- carved or painted on furniture, embroidered on materials, tattooed on people's skin -- representing great strength, wisdom, courage, bravery, and fierceness.  However, that's all it seemed to be - a representation.

I didn't put much thought into its origin, accepting them as mythical creatures that were revered and woven into stories around the world through the ages.  Fast forward to when I joined the Modern Mystery School and learned of the classes offered.  The courses seemed so out of my realm of comfort and understanding, yet I still signed up because I was curious.  I realized later that something within resonated strongly.

Elemental classes are a rare offering because there are only a handful of instructors that teach them.  Dragon and Unicorn Magick were the first classes to reach the San Francisco Bay Area.  A few years later, Elvin and Faerie Magick came to town.  Last year, Mer Magick made its debut here.

Some tools used to connect
On the way to attend each course, I felt a sense of hesitation and questioned why I was even taking it.  However, in class, in the moment, I sensed an awakening of some sort.  These beings are real.  They exist and hold such light.  The wisdom they impart is phenomenal.  It's an honor and joy to be able to connect with them on such a pure level.  The elemental classes themselves are rich with history, energy, and understanding.  Towards the end of class, rituals are then handed down to apply, as you wish, into your daily life to help connect with the different beings.

At first, I did the rituals in the comfort of my room.  However, after taking Mer Magick, a group of us decided to do rituals together at the beach.  We realized that being out in nature helped us feel more in tune, so much that now a group of us make it a point to meet weekly to do rituals together in various nature spots in the Bay Area.

It's been nearly a year of meeting weekly and the experience has only gotten better.  Communication is clearer with the elementals and our group has become closer.  Getting to know the different tribes, beings, and their culture has expanded our hearts.  Most of all, it's humbling to be aware of their presence and learn to exist in harmony.
